The Vibrating Wire Arc Weldable Strain Gauge is used for measuring strain in steel members. The strain gauge can be arc welded to steel structures such as piles, load-bearing beams, and columns, struts, and bridges. It can also be applied to sheet pile walling, reinforcement bars, tunnel linings, and suspension bars

It measures strain in steel members and consists of a coil assembly, a vibrating wire element, and two weldable anchors. It also incorporates O-ring seals to provide waterproofing and allows the tube to remain unstressed. A factory fitted, four-core screened cable connects the coil to the readout unit.
